Baked Turkey Wontons
So, I have never made wontons before, but Jillian and I were doing a little lunch time grocery shopping when I saw wonton wrappers and was up for a challenge. I pretty much made up this recipe by using whatever I had in the fridge (typical, right?).
- 1 package of wonton wrappers
- 1 package of ground turkey
- 3-4 large carrots
- 1 cup of spinach
- 1 large spoonful of ricotta cheese
- Soy Sauce
- Apple cider vinegar
- 3 cloves of garlic
Preheat oven to 375.
Mix your sauce ingredients with equal parts soy sauce and vinegar. Add minced garlic. Let it marinate for as long as possible! (Thank you Jillian for this sauce recipe, it’s soo good).
Cook turkey on medium heat until browned. In a food processor or vitamix, mince up your carrots and spinach. Add this mixture to your turkey and simmer until carrots are soft. Place the whole mixture back into your mixer so that the turkey gets minced up too. Pour into a large bowl and stir in your ricotta (don’t forget to pour yourself a glass of wine ;))
Here comes the fun part! Lay out your wonton wrappers and grab a small bowl of water. Fill your wrappers with about a tablespoon of mixture. Wet the outer part of the wrapper and fold in half.
Once all of your wrappers are sealed, stick them in the oven for about 15-17 minutes (or until edges are crispy. Dip them in your sauce and enjoy! I served this with a spinach salad.
